PERTINI AND SAVONA: Follow the idea, not the men!

The bond between Sandro Pertini and our city is very strong.
This is evidenced by the presence at Priamar of the Museum, inaugurated in 1991 to fulfill the President's wish to donate his vast art collection to the City of Savona. The very reason for which Savona received the Gold Medal for the Resistance seems to embody Sandro Pertini's ideals and character: "An absolute obstinacy in not suffering the shame of tyranny, of dedication to the homeland, of tenacity in fidelity to the highest ideals of freedom and justice."

It was in Savona, his adopted city, that the same tenacity took root in him, which saw him leave as a young lawyer, active in the anti-fascist ranks, to return as President of the Italians, in the times of terrorist massacres.

We will take a tour of the city center, visiting the places where he played a key role. This will not be a celebration of his character, but rather a way to reflect together on the importance of these values, and renew our gratitude through the memory of his coherence between ideas and actions.
