Imagine exploring the Riviera without a care in the world

Parking, summer traffic, highway tolls, gas: those who travel by car know that getting around the Riviera di Ponente in summer can be more of a hassle than a pleasure. However, there's a way to travel freely from Varazze to Laigueglia—passing through Savona, Noli, Bergeggi, Spotorno, Finale Ligure, and Alassio—without having to pay for every vehicle: it's called the Tourist Card , and it's completely free.

What is the Tourist Card and who can get it?

The Tourist Card is a virtual card that offers free use of local public transportation in the Province of Savona. It is designed exclusively for tourists staying at participating accommodations—hotels, B&Bs, farmhouses, and campsites—and can be activated directly via smartphone in just a few minutes.

The service is completely free : it costs neither the tourist nor the accommodation facility anything to join the initiative.

How to activate it in three steps

Activating the Tourist Card is quick and easy:

  1. Download the "La Mia Liguria" app on your smartphone (available for iOS and Android)
  2. Scan the QR code that your accommodation will provide you upon arrival
  3. Complete the registration by following the steps indicated in the app

In just a few steps, you'll have your digital card activated on your phone, ready to accompany you as you explore the area. If you have any questions or difficulties, call the toll-free number 800 808 288 , open every day from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm. External link

How long does it last and what does it cover?

Seven days of freedom

The Tourist Card is valid for 7 consecutive days from the moment of activation. For those staying longer than 7 days, simply contact your accommodation to request a renewal.

All bus lines in the province

With an active Tourist Card, you can travel on all TPL Linea lines. This means you can freely reach all 18 participating municipalities at no additional cost: Varazze, Celle, Albisola Superiore, Albissola Marina, Savona, Bergeggi, Spotorno, Noli, Finale Ligure, Borgio Verezzi, Pietra Ligure, Tovo San Giacomo, Borghetto Santo Spirito, Toirano, Loano, Albenga, Alassio, and Laigueglia.

The whole family covered with just one QR code

To speed up the process for other family members you are on holiday with, you can share the QR code or master Tourist Card code directly via the app, thus generating a "guest" Tourist Card for the family member (up to 4).

In practice, the cardholder activates the master card and can generate up to four "guest" cards for family members—each with their own card on their phone, free to travel independently, even separately from others. A huge advantage for families with children who want to explore independently.

What you can do with the Tourist Card: itinerary ideas

The Tourist Card isn't just a savings tool: it's a key to accessing the entire region. Here are some practical examples of how to make the most of it during a stay in Savona:

From the center of Savona to the beaches

The bus takes you conveniently to the beaches of Zinola, Fornaci, and the Prolungamento a Mare, without having to look for parking during the high season—a real advantage, especially on weekends in July and August.

Savona → Noli: The Medieval Village by Bus

Savona → Albisola: ceramics and the Artists' Promenade

In Albisola Marina, just a few minutes by bus from Savona, you'll find the famous Lungomare degli Artisti (Artists' Promenade) with ceramic mosaics donated by international artists—a perfect combination visit to the city's Ceramics Museum.

Savona → Toirano Caves

Toirano is also among the participating municipalities: its prehistoric caves, among the most important in Liguria, can be reached by bus—an ideal excursion for families with children.

Savona → Alassio and Albenga

For those who want to venture further west, the Tourist Card also covers Alassio and Albenga—famous, respectively, for their summer social life and for their medieval historic centers, among the best preserved in Liguria.

Additional practices to know

  • Animals : Small and medium-sized dogs are allowed on board with a muzzle and leash.
  • Strollers : allowed on board approved vehicles, in the reserved space
  • Accessibility : those with reduced mobility can call the toll-free number to check the presence of the ramp on the desired vehicle
  • On-board checks : in case of checks, simply show the active Tourist Card on the screen of your smartphone

More sustainable tourism, at zero cost

The Tourist Card isn't just a financial benefit for tourists: it's also a sustainable tourism choice. Fewer private cars on the road means less traffic on coastal roads, lower emissions, and a more livable Riviera di Ponente for everyone—residents and visitors alike. A small gesture that, when multiplied by thousands of tourists, makes a difference.
